In a quite village just south of Heraklio lies this hidden gem of a restaurant. A paradise for foodies like my husband and I. We both have such different palates yet we loved each dish so much that we devoured each one like we had not eaten in years. The wonderful owner and chef Dimitris explained to us that most of the ingredients are retrieved by him from the mountain behind the restaurant. We did not realize how different food could taste if it was fresh, largely unprocessed
and cooked to perfection. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day.The prices are astoundingly low considering the quality of the food but just wait as we are sure that this chef is going to be a big star soon and this hidden gem will be a secret no longer. We feel incredibly lucky to have experienced it when we did.
We have been to Pelagos many of times on our visits to Crete. On the latest holiday (22.8) we went to Pelagos to celebrate my mothers 65th birthday. We were really disappointed.
Not only did they forget two of the starters but the fish dish that my son ordered was served on my plate (which already had my fish in it) - we were trying to get waiters / waitresses to help us and they just walked past us - I ended up going to talk to one of the staff about the food. Also the fish has always been very good in the restaurant before this time the fish seemed not fresh / soggy. For 260 euros we felt cheated and will not return to Pelagos on our next trip to Crete.
