Drossia or as many still know it by its Turkish name of________   is one of those cross-roads villages on the old Rethymno-Heraklion road. Once powerful as an Ottoman administrative post, it is now famous for the best charcoal-roasted suckling pig on the island. The little beasts are grown organically around the village and are melt-in-your-mouth succulent with crackling skins. Enjoy it beneath the shade of a very old plane tree.
