Taverna ARODAMOS (ΑΡΟΔΑΜΟΣ)

This favorite tavern in Anogia has been around for a few years. Contrasted with many eating places in town, this one has a large, airy, bright interior with some nice folksy touches like Cretan handiwork tablecloths.  If you can grab one of the coveted tables by the large floor-to-ceiling window, you have some spectacular views of Mt Psiloritis looming in front of you. As with any establishment in this municipality, the order of the day is lamb anti-kristo and/or ofto and Arodamos does it well indeed. They also have excellent local cheeses, some of which I am sure you never hear of anywhere else. For example, their Saganaki is with a cheese called Katsohiri. This is a completely different version than what we are used to. Even the ubiquitous macaroni with anthotiro is top class because of the quality of the cheese. Also great is the stuffed cabbage and house salad of fresh, bitter mountain greens.
