Housed in a Neo Classic building with a well-decorated interior interspersed with antiques, Merastri serves enduringly high quality, authentic Cretan cuisine. Despite the sophisticated appearance, an evening here is still a relaxing occasion. Notables include the savory tender fried zucchini flowers stuffed with feta or the zucchini boureki (pita from Chania) or the succulent, melt-in-your mouth Ofto (oven-baked lamb). There is a wide array of interesting, fresh salads. Service is excellent. This is a top winter spot in Heraklion for sure.
